Corn Potato String Band

Join us at the Western Illinois Museum on Our Front Porch for the perfect Sunday afternoon: good music, sweet tea, and delicious pie. The museum welcomes the Corn Potato String Band, a Detroit-based traditional American music duo that has been called the “ears and eyes of America,” on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Pie will be served at 1:30 pm and the program begins at 2:00 pm. Suggested $5 donation at the door.

The Corn Potato String Band is Lindsay McCaw and Aaron Lewis, both multi-instrumentalists that bring forward the String Band mandate: good music and good musicians equal a good time.  Known for their ability to craft a compelling musical style based on the straight-forward

 criteria of the joy making music together. The duo moves deftly between spell-binding reels, boisterous blues tunes, and even a bit of country gospel. “What sets the music of the Corn Potato String Band apart is a deeply pervasive strain of soulful spontaneity,” Doug DeLoach wrote in his review for Songlines. The museum’s Our Front Porch sets the stage for what promises to be a spell-binding Sunday afternoon.
