Hallo~wine

October 21, 2017 @ 6:30 pm

Hallo~Wine

The Western Illinois Museum will hold its annual Hallo~ Wine event on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Doors and cash bar open at 6:30 pm and program begins at 7:00 pm. Guests will be treated to music, refreshments and hauntings by the museum’s re-enactors. The program will be held at the Western Illinois Museum located at 201 South Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door.

Celebrate Halloween with an evening of haunted historic fun. Museum re-enactors will take you back to 1938 when all the talk around town was about the Cub’s loss to the Yankees in the World Series and the radio was playing Bob Hope’s hit song, Thanks for the Memories. Throughout the evening local historic figures will haunt the event, telling their stories. Featured this year will be favorites such as “Rock” Hanson and Olive Potter debating sports, Roy Sallee and Polly Pottle discussing the Arts and Sciences, Harold Eller showing off his new Elgin bike, and Nellie Parsons will try to sell you one of those new RCA Victor Bakelite radios. Tricks will be part of the program, but it is sure to be a treat!

This year’s musical guests will be area favorites Sally Weisenburg and Don Berbaum. They will play two 40 minute sets at 7:00 and 8:00 –if the historic ghosts don’t interrupt them. Don’t forget your dancing shoes because their music will get you out of your seat. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available at a cash bar provided by Hy-Vee catering. A few treats will served.

For more information visit the museum’s web site at www.wimuseum.org or contact the museum at 309.837.2750.

About Sally Weisenburg and Don Berbaum

Sally Weisenburg and Don Berbaum have been a team, both personally and musically since the middle 70’s. Sally is from the St. Louis area but moved to Peoria, Illinois, in 1976 to join Don’s band. The pair now live near Rushville, Illinois, and have played music professionally for all of their years together. Their musical influences have never been based on a specific category, rather the music they play has to do with quality. They play “good” music from many categories and they play it really well. That includes blues, soul, jazz, country, standards, rock, Latin, surf and good music from any and all categories including a variety of originals. Sally’s spectacular vocals are always the focal point in any of their performances backed by the inspirational coloring of Don’s playing on guitar and steel guitar. Sally’s fine keyboard and keyboard bass playing are a large part of their big live sound.
