Doors open at 6:30 pm, program at 7:00 pm
$5 suggested donation at the door
The Western Illinois Museum is holding its Annual Meeting of members on Thursday, March 22, 2018. All members and those interested in becoming members are invited to attend. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the program will begin at 7:00 pm.
The program, News from the Front will be held on Our Front Porch, the museum’s indoor program space. This newly designed exhibit area is the perfect place to catch up with all our friends. Come and sit a spell, chat about what’s new and let us tell you about the future plans for the museum. Of course, sweet tea and Doris Carman’s famous pies will be served.
This year’s program will include a look back 100 years when letters from the front brought news about our boys fighting in the Great War. A selection from the museum’s collection of letters written by WWI soldiers will be read revealing insights about their daily life and concerns about family and friends back home. Artifacts from the collection will complement the reading.
A brief overview of the museum’s plans for the coming year will be presented and members will be given the opportunity to share their thoughts about the future direction of the museum. Guests will be able to use the suggested $5 donation to vote for ideas they believe will most benefit the museum’s future.
The Western Illinois Museum is located at 201 South Lafayette Street in Macomb. For more information, contact the museum at 309.837.2750 or email@example.com.
