As part of General Alexander Macomb’s 134th birthday celebration the Western Illinois Museum is pleased to host Dr. Eugene Watkins, Site Supervisor of Old Fort Madison.  On Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 11:00 am Dr. Watkins will present his new research about the trade activity at the historical site. The City of Macomb, the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Western Illinois Museum are planning a birthday party!  This year General Alexander Macomb, the city’s namesake, will be 235 years old and on Saturday, April 1st a celebration will be held in his honor. Liquid History: A Pub Crawl

The Western Illinois Museum will hold its, Liquid History: A Pub Crawl, on Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 4:30 to 6:30.  This year’s guided walking tour will visit three historic buildings on Macomb’s Courthouse Square and explore the region’s history in 1930. Guests encounter re-enactors who grapple with the changes brought by the economic challenges created by the 1929 stock market crash, unleashing a new protectionist movement.
