The East Jackson Street branch of First Bankers Trust Company in Macomb and the Western Illinois Museum continue their partnership in bringing local history to the community. Visitors to the bank, located at 1630 East Jackson Street, will be able to view a new exhibit, The History of Hats, which features nine hats from the museum’s collection. Exploring various materials and style, the exhibit includes an example of a late 1880s beaver skin hat, and various children’s and women’s styles that provide insight into the times when they were made and worn. Military hats and a baseball cap on display further illustrate the lives and values of the people who wore them. The exhibit will be on display through May 2015. The bank’s lobby hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. The Western Illinois Museum located is at 201 South Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s historic Courthouse Square.
