As Advertised: A History of Local Promotions

This exhibit will examine how new products, events and even important issues facing the nation were advertised to those living in west central Illinois. From the persuasive traveling salesman and mail order catalogs, to the catchy radio and television jiggles, these advertisements chronicle the businesses and services in our region. In a time of social media, advertising is re-inventing itself once again and the dramatic changes offer an opportunity to examine the powerful influence advertising has on us all.

As Advertised: A History of Local Promotions, will open on August 1, 2017, and will be on view through January 6, 2018.
