Ukulele University 101

March 3, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$10

Join us on Our Front Porch and let’s make some music. Ukulele University 101 is an introductory instructional workshop designed for beginners and those who have no experience with the instrument.  The two-hour program taught by Mike McGowan, explores the basics: tuning, chords, and strumming techniques. During the workshop, you will learn to play ten songs and enjoy the benefits of slowing down and learning something new.

Since 2011, Ukulele Macomb has been teaching all ages to play the ukulele with workshops and two weekly jam sessions. They provide entertainment to the community by performing for events, organizations and area assisted living centers. Their enthusiasm for the ukulele has encouraged people of all ages to learn to play music and to enjoy singing together. The cost for the two-hour workshop is $10 and includes a take-home playbook. Ukuleles are provided or you can bring your own. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Contact the Western Illinois Museum at (309) 837-2750 or info@wimuseum.org to enroll.

The Western Illinois Museum is located at 201 South Lafayette Street two blocks south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square.  Free parking is available.
